Gary signed for Hibernian in the summer of 2004 for a third time - this time however was his first on a two-year contract, the two previous runs in the Hibernian squad being loan deals. Accomplished in defence or in the midfield holding role, Gary has become a regular in Bertie Vogts Scotland squad, scoring his first goal at international level in a friendly against Trinidad & Tobago at Easter Road in May 2004.
