After making fleeting appearances in the first team under Franck Sauzee, Derek made the breakthrough at the end of the 2002/03 season. He then underlined his claims as one of the most exciting young talents in the Scottish game during the following campaign, when only injury halted him reaching 20 goals for the season - that all the more remarkable as he played most of the 2003/04 campaign in wide midfield positions!

That injury has taken some time to heal however Derek is fit and ready again for another campaign - and just as determined not to lose his crown as the Club's leading scorer.
